Throughout my portfolio you will see my artwork; you will see everything I learned as well as how much I improved and finally by reading each summary of each of my artwork you will hopefully comprehend what I learned and what I was trying to accomplish. Photography class has thought me a lot about Photoshop, taking pictures and learning about many artists and their artwork. Overall it was very challenging but fun to learn along the way and enjoy as well. I personally think that I was most successful with taking pictures and creating things with Photoshop tutorials because I like to both things and I find myself creative. However, I struggled the most with the Surreal project I had a hard time coming forward with my thoughts and ideas and it gave me a hard time to even start my project but at the end I worked something’s out and tried to finish the project all do it was not what I wanted it to look like it did not come out as bad as I thought it would. The favorite thing that I have learned in this class is probably working with Photoshop and creating lots of things. I will for sure use the knowledge that I learned in this class because it can help me in the future with many things, like remembering all the artists and their artwork as well as remembering the rules of taking better quality pictures. The project that connected me most with my life and life experiences is The quilt project because it had be looking back and remembering things from my past like my childhood, also, it had me communicating with people more to see what they thought of me and it sort of gave me a background of my life the way I see and how others see it. My life experiences affect my artwork and perspective and how I see the world because it changes the way of how I think as well as the point of view of things going on around me. Out of the artists studied in class over the year I feel like a relate the most to Barbara Kruger’s because she works of things that effect everyone which are called social issues and I like the way she interprets her artwork so that everyone can understand it and get the feeling of it. I have seen growth and improvement in my creativity and craftsmanship because my work lots a lot better since the beginning of the year. The most meaningful project that I have created in this class was the social issue because my generation is being really affected by appearance and body types and I think this project helped me explain to others what many go through.

Blow Out && Panning:

I created a Blow out effect on the photograph I took

by changing the Iso so that it can make the picture

brighter and i fixed the levels in photoshop to make it

look better,, I used an Iso of 5000, f 8 and shutter speed

of 1/2000.I think there probably was another way to take

a way better photo of blow out. PANNiNg i think it is to

take a photograph while something is moving to capture the

movement ..Panning should look swirly around the picture

or very blurry around it,.I think i was not very successful with

panning because Im not that familiar with it.My settings

were in auto i had shutter speed and iso on . I could

have done a better job if i wouldnt of had missed the

panning lesson,Panning was difficult becasue i didnt know

how it worked and how to take a panning photo..

ShUttEr SPEEd:

Shutter Speed is capturing several movements in a photo as well as being in a dark place and using some light to make it look better.The setting in the room was dark we turned off all the light and used a lamp and our cell phone lights to make shapes and words and so on.We set the camara to an ISO of 200 and set a timer to the camara.I think that this was really fun i enjoyed it.My favorite picture is were we spell out lOVE i think its a very cute picture but really creative at the same time.

Aperture:

Aperture is basically how big the hole is where the light goes through.

The SMALLER the number the bigger the hole and the LARGER the number

the smaller the hole.

* The SHORTER the depth of field ,, the background is blurry.

*The DEEPER the depth of field,, the background stays in fosus.

-- f2 is considered a larger aperture

-- f 22 would be the smaller aperture and will not blurr the background.

ISO stands for ( International Organization Standardization )

Iso is basically the speed of the film reacts to the light I think that the flash worked better than the Iso because the Iso added a type of blur to the photo and made it not so clear and the flash made the photo brighter and better looking.Over the course of my photos as i changed the ISO i think the photo got more blurry as the number of the ISO got bigger,I would choose to use Iso over flash to make my picture have a different feeling to it .

fLASh:

some Pros of using flash are that the flash adds light,freezes time

and eliminates the blur. The Cons of using flash are.. that the flash

may disturb your subject,it creates ugly lighting situations,distracts

reflections,red eyes and hot spots.

It is a good idea to use flash when you want to make your

photo more colorful and add more light.

Flash is not a good idea to use when, you want to take a dark photo

and whenyou want to see the real colors and the natural feeling

of the photo.

The photo I chose is better without flash because it brings out the

colors of the street and everything surrounding the place,i think it

look cool how the colors look so bright.

Metering:

Light metering is designed to meausure the amount of light . In these two photos shows the difference when you dont focus the sutter button on your emphasis and when you press the button half way down so that it does focus and adds the amount of light needed.

Surreal:

overall this project I personally found very hard

i had a hard time coming forward with my ideas

specially because I didnt remember my dreams so

I think nthat made it harder.However i tried my hardest

to make my project as dream like as it was suppose to be.

I put my self in a grassland field because in some parts

of the dreams i actually remembere i always appeared in a

grassland field,I flowers out of scissors ,I made myself into a tree.

therefore my project sorta explains how my mind can be blank

most of the time.

Surreal Practice Tutorials

In the desert tutorial we distorted the picture of the ground to make it more realistic and added a gradient with browns and yellow and some orange colors to make the ground pop out more. Also we made the sky look more real by adding the clouds with paintbrushes and adding another gradient with different shades of blues to make the sky look even better .finally we added two or one picture to the sky to give it a different view then to change it we played around with the opacity to enhanced the photo. With the light post we erased some of the bottom on the post so it wouldn’t look like we pasted it on there. We also added a shadow to the light post and it gave the photo a more realistic scenerio.These two practice tutorials are going to help me with the Surreal Project because I got more familiar with other Photoshop tools that will help me make my project better

Mirrors Don’t Lie...The art work I have created is based on social issues that affect everyone in various ways. With my artwork I was trying to accomplish and explain a real life situation, now a days everyone is always complaining of the way they look, many people are never satisfied with their physical appearance. I decided to focus on physical appearance for this project because it seems to be a big issue that affects everyone but mainly teen girls, also because many girls feel like they are not accepted by society. So my artwork is showing a young lady looking at her self or imagining herself being bigger, however reality is she skinny and in good shape, but what she needs is confidence in her natural beauty.

Graduation Invitation: After looking at others students program covers and designs , i think that the strength of my designs is different and unique from other art work the i seen.Some things i think i could have done differently is maybe change the colors of some of the words in both of my design covers to make the words pop out, at first i thought graphic design was easy but then it became difficult to come through with the project because i did not know what to show and express.the most important part of graphic design is to really persuade someone but mainly persuade your customer and impressing them with the design.

During These two months of working with these four quilt squares helped me really think outside the box. The first two quilt squares that I began with were very easy because my ideas were fresh and I felt strong with the topics, however as I started working with the last two quilts it got very difficult I felt that those two were my weakness in this project because I could not think of anything and my ideas were stuck but with help of my partner and a few others I came through with my thoughts and ideas and finished my quilts. My favorite quilt out of the four would be the outside me because I really expressed how Iam on the outside, with the help that friends gave me by telling me what they thought of me really helped me organize and think of how I should create my quilt. My least favorite quilt would be the inside me I personally think I could have done a better job with this one however my ideas were not as clear anymore I felt like it was my weakness. Overall this project helped me learn more about myself and it as well helped me be more familiar with Photoshop and learn many new tools that hadnt worked with before.

ARtiSt StAtEMENt

When you gaze through my portfolio you will see pictures that I took also, pictures that I fixed with Photoshop to make them look better. You will see each project that I have worked on since the start of the school year it will come to your attention how much I improved since then. My portfolio to me represents me in so many ways mainly it represents my originality and creativity overall.
Photography class has been so far very interesting and fun overall because we have learned so much since the beginning of the school year. It was very challenging at the beginning of the year I didn’t know anything about taking pictures or working with Photoshop .Over this semester I learned a lot about Photoshop and all the tools in it and I experienced working with this program with projects that had to be enhanced by Photoshop. I feel that I’ am most successful with creating ideas and taking pictures because I’ am very creative .I felt that I’ am not very successful with Photoshop when it came to using specific tools that I don’t know well.
In the near future I think I could improve in this class by working more with Photoshop in my free times or when ever I get a chance .I think that it would help me a lot to be more successful in this class. I myself see more improvement in my pictures and how I interpret them and also the mood and feeling that I set on the pictures to make them have more meaning. I feel that most of my art work represents who I’ am.

I chose these song because i think that it is a really good song and it talks about wanting to be young forever.Also many teens nowadays can relate to this song because it can express alot of how they want to life and the way they want to. This song is my favorite because it really describes in many ways that are hard to explain

Social Issue:"Mirror's Don't lie"

In the picture above: I have a photo of a girl that is looking or imagining herself being something she is not, black and white with a red border give the picture color ,the statement I choose for this photo was “Mirror’s Don’t Lie” because I wanted people to think and analyze the picture so they can connect to the real meaning of this.

In black and white I describe and give life to a real life situation of this photo that effects our generation someway or another,the picture represents a girl that is seeing her self look chubbier, when she really is not.Nowadays in real life we all deal with the situation that we think were to fat or too skinny.My personal statement on this photo explains how women in particular are never satisfied with how they look, however many suffer because they don’t feel accepted by society .by my statement I meant that never listen to what others say or think of the you look you should be happy with yourself no matter what. This somehow affects me because of my physical appearance and I thought this photo would really express my thoughts.

AliEN,, Vampire;; My favorite picture out of the alien and the vampire pictures was

the vampire beacause it looks scary and creeps you at when you look at it. Some of the new tools that i learned about were the clone tool which copies what you want,i also learned about the different brushes to create blood stains in the picture.Some of the difficulties i ran into while woprking on these picture was when i was tryong to cutt off and paste the octopus legs,I think I did well on the vampire picture because i got into the horror mood, and it helped my picture look better...if i would relater these projects to real life i would use these skills for a costume,making scary posters,

Out of all the tricks that i heav learned this week my favorite was the glow because it brings out the picture and it makes it look smooth as well as soft.

Out of all the tricks & tools we have learned,i would like to work with or explore a little more with the healing tools.

Some of the favorite things that I did on my own or discovered were doing the adjustment layers and changing it so that it can make pictures look better.

Artistic Portrait;; 1.The picture that i think i was most successful at was the face protrait because it was simple to take a photo of someone smiling
2.To create an artistic mood i used the compositional trick of drawing with light because i think it really makes the mood of the picture better and more realistic,the mood i capture was sad or a feeling gloomy mood and feeling..3.The prop costume that my customer choose to use was a traditional Mexican skirt and shirt that has colorful sequence and many beautiful designs.this photo turned out to be very good because it really expresses her culture ,,

Contact Sheet Compositional Tricks

Out of all the Compositional Tricks that we have learned and all the pictures that we have taken my favorite is Macro because it really brings out the true beauty of something by blurring out its surroundings.I will most likely use the rule of thirds and fill in the flash becuase it simply makes a simple picture look way better.The trick i taught was more difficult was Drawing the light i taught it was difficult,However i enjoyed taking the pictures for this Trick.My favorite photograph that i took was Simplicity becuase its a picture that is not boring but its simple in its on way...

Compositional Trick # 8 Fill in the Flash

Fill in the flash is taking a with the flash on and the purpose of fill in the flash is too bring light into the picture.The first picture shows how the flash gave light to the picture.The second picture shows how dark the picture really is without the flash.So basically the flash helps improve your pictures to give them more light.

Compositional Trick # 7 Drawing With Light

Drawing with light basically means taking a picture with light so that it can bring a very attention to the picture. this picture i think that by the light hitting her face makes the picture more dramatic and makes it better;; it also brings out the mood more in the 'picture,,the mood of this picture is thoughtful as well as very serious

Compositional Trick # 6 Framing

Framing is a way to take pictures so that the viewer can have a guide towards the main attraction in the picture .The first picture my main attraction is surrounded by many tree's in the top that frame her.The second picture my main focus is being framed by the rectangle and instantly pulls you into the picture.
